The visitors had the first chance at goal when Katlego Mashego’s shot from Rudi Isaacs’s long ball went over the AmaTuks goal post.
The Dube Birds then took the lead eight (8) minutes into the game through a Siyabonga Nomvethe goal. The veteran striker managed to beat the AmaTuks defence’s off-side trap and curled a shot that went past goal keeper Washington Arubi, making the score 1-0 to Swallows.
In the 19th minute AmaTuks had a chance at goal when Aubrey Ngoma managed to go past the Swallows defender Roger da Costa, only to see his effort saved by the Swallows keeper Greg Etafia.
Swallows went into half time in the lead as AmaTuks did not capitalise on the chances created in front of the Swallows goals.
Coach Steve Barker made a double substitution at the start of the second half with Mame Niang coming on for Ayanda Lubelo and Mpho Matsi replacing Petrus Shitembi.
Swallows continued with the attack on AmaTuks at the start of the second half. The AmaTuks keeper Arubi was forced to make a number of great saves, denying the Dube Birds an opportunity to double the lead.
The last ten (10) minutes of the game saw AmaTuks launching attack after attack on the Dube Birds. The consistency finally paid off in the 94th minute when Thabo Mosadi headed in from close range from a rebound ball after Dipsy Selolwane’s shot had hit the cross bar, ending the match 1-1.
The results place AmaTuks eighth (8) on the log table with 24 points after eighteen (18) games, with a game in hand against SuperSport United.
