The boys started strong in the tournament, beating FCAK 7 – 1 in the opening match and continued to do well by beating Bidvest Wits 2 – 0 in the second game. They went on to beat the Johannesburg Secondary School (3 – 2) on penalties to progress to the finals.
Coach Steve Matlou was impressed with the team’s performance and is looking forward to the Future Champions International Tournament where they will compete with other U/17 teams from around the world later this month. He had this to say about the team’s performance;
“It was a great tournament and the boys did well to represent TuksFootball and the University of Pretoria. To get to the semi - finals we had to beat the likes of Wits, they have the best coaches and they play good football. I am impressed with the players as this was our first time participating in the tournament and we managed to make to reach the finals”.
My goal is to see the team qualify for Brazil and I’m looking forward to building a strong team to compete on a bigger stage”.
