PREVIEW: AMATUKS VS FREE STATE STARS

Posted on April 19, 2013

AmaTuks will be looking to continue with the unbeaten run after playing to a 1-1 draw against Mamelodi Sundowns at the Loftus Versfeld in midweek.

Coach Steve Barker praised the players for all the hard work they have put in from the start of the season. He was addressing the media after the match against Sundowns on Wednesday.

“It is one of the best groups of players that I've worked with, the fighting spirit, hard work, humbleness and respect for our opposition is special. We have a hard working bunch of players with great unity and togetherness”.

With just five (5) games left before the season comes to an end, AmaTuks are placed eighth (8th) on the log table with thirty two (32) points from twenty five (25) games.

At home the team has registered two (2) wins and seven (7) draws from the twelve (12) matches played thus far, with the last win being a 3-1 over AmaZulu.

Meanwhile, Ea Lla Koto ended a run of three straight losses with a 1-1 home draw against Orlando Pirates in midweek.

Steve Kompela’s side has recorded just three wins from their 12 away matches this season. Their last game on the road was a 4-2 defeat at Ajax Cape Town.

They are placed seventh on the log table with 33 points from 25 matches.

In head-to-head stats, AmaTuks and Stars have had just one previous top flight league meeting which took place earlier in the season in the Free State, with the sides playing to a goalless draw.
