Coach Steve Barker and the technical team have roped in eight (8) new players to the AmaTuks camp ahead of the new season;
Fikru Lamessa Teferra from Free State Stars, Grant Kekana from SuperSport United, Siphelele Luthuli promoted from the TuksFootball Academy, Lucky Mathosi from Rustenburg Sea Robbers in the Vodacom League, Obadiah Tarumbwa from Sofapaka in the Kenyan Premier League, Mandlenkosi Tsengwa from Thanda Royal Zulu, Buhle Mkhwanazi and Siyabonga Ngubane both from Mamelodi Sundowns.
AmaTuks and Swallows both finished the 2012/2013 season on forty (40) points, but with a better goal difference, AmaTuks snatched the top 8 finish.
In head-to-head stats, the two teams have only met twice; that was in the 2012/2013 season. AmaTuks beat the Dube Birds 3-2 at the Dobsonville Stadium in the first encounter, with the return match ending 1-1 at the Tuks Stadium.
“It was difficult last season as no one gave us a chance and we managed to make it through under difficult circumstances. Our preparations have been great, we managed to go through everything we wanted to cover before the first match and the boys are ready for the new season.”
“The first match of the season is always difficult as we don’t know how they play, so we have to go out there and give it our best”. Said assistant coach Sly Mosala.
Supporters who want to travel to Dodsonville Stadium should contact Joseph on 0823108065 to book a seat on the bus, cost is R30 excluding match ticket.
