The Department of English was proud of its alumni at the September Spring graduation 2015.
Doctorates in English were awarded to Jeremy Painter, for his thesis "Inventing History: The rheotric of history in J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the RIngs", and to Idette Noomé, for her thesis "Widening readership - A case study in the translation of indigenous law".
Ms Carole-Dominique Godfrey received her Honours in English with a well-deserved distinction. MA degrees were received by Ms Fiona Covarr, for her dissertation called "Freedom, rebellion ad adolescent identity in Ursula K. Le Guin's Annals of the Western Shore", and by Ms Gina Jansen van Vuuren, for her dissertation, "Negotiating a new cultural space: Aspects of fantasy in contemporary South African youth literature.
