"A Brave New World?: Interrogating Enlightenment constructions of subjectivity through literature", which looked at Enlightenment ideas, some of Gadamer's views and Huxley's visionary text. Idette Noome's paper, "Added in translation - when 'fact' becomes fiction?" examined the practical problems of translating a legal anthropological text, considering the text as both factual and fictional, and exploring the role of the translator as a reader filtering a text that has practical, rather than literary, purposes. Her paper elicited a lively debate on translation.
