The Educational Psychology Family Project will provide a community service to families in the Mamelodi area through three broad strategies, namely (1) providing a *training context* for registered undergraduate and postgraduate students who wish to work with families in the community, (2) acting as a *research incubator* in which community projects will contribute to the development and sharpening of postgraduate students' research skills as well as building a research base on family functioning, and (3) providing advanced educational psychology students with the opportunity to obtain *clinical experience* in family-oriented work.
