Ms Nadia Swanepoel Biography

Ms Nadia Swanepoel is a lecturer in the department of Early Childhood Education. She studied at the University of Pretoria where she completed her undergraduate studies, Honours degree in Learning Support and her Master’s degree in Education. Her specialisation is integrating reading comprehension with mathematics which gives rise to mathematics word problem solving instruction.

As part of her doctoral study, she is developing a professional development initiative aimed at enhancing teachers’ understanding and instruction of mathematics word problem solving.  She hopes that this professional development initiative will highlight the fun and practical nature of mathematics word problems to old and young.

Ms Nadia Swanepoel has written and presented a number of conference papers at national conferences. Although she is an early career academic, she is passionate about interacting with students and sharing her knowledge about language and mathematical education with under-graduate as well as post graduate students. She has a heart for students and believes in empowering the youth of today to shape the future of tomorrow.
