Do you dream of being a live or published poet? Poetry NonScenes is for you!
Running on 22 April 2024 at the University of Pretoria, Poetry NonScenes is a full-day workshop beginning at 9:00. It will be dedicated to discussing, producing, and performing live poetry.
Participants will spend the morning under the guidance of Raphael d’Abdon, a celebrated live poet; the afternoon will see small groups create their poetry. A celebration showcase will then run in the early evening (ending at approximately 18:00) where everybody in attendance will perform their poetry. Performances will be posted on the Nonscenes’ YouTube and Tiktok channels, and www.poetrynonscenes.com. Select poems will also be published in a dedicated anthology by uHlanga Press.
To take advantage of this fantastic opportunity, submit a poem of your creation (between 10-30 lines) or a three-minute video recording of you performing the poem you have written. The poems can be written and/or performed in any language and can focus on any theme the poet chooses.
