Dear UP students
As most of you are currently writing examinations, I want to wish you strength and thank you for your ongoing commitment during these uncertain times. I know it is a challenging time, and I appreciate your hard work and dedication.
Thank you also for continuing to partner with us to ensure your safety and well-being as we fight the spread of the COVID-19 virus together.
As Gauteng is becoming an infection hot spot, I ask you to please work with us as we continue to keep everyone safe. To this end and as a reminder, please remember to wear a mask when you go outside and are in the presence of fellow students and other members of the community. It is now compulsory to do so, as announced by the President. I expect all UP students to act responsibly in this context and to not need to be admonished. It is critical that you adhere to the social distancing rules and wash your hands regularly.
It is only when we all work together and abide by these necessary measures that we will be able to prevent the spread of the virus and ensure your well-being and the well-being of your friends and families.
Remember to stay home and contact a medical practitioner immediately if you have any of the possible COVID-19 symptoms, which include:
If you have been in contact with a person who might be positive and who has gone for testing, please self-isolate until the tests results are known. If the results are positive, please go into quarantine for at least fourteen days. If they are negative, you may resume your normal activities immediately.
Please do a daily health self-assessment by using the HealthCheck tool. Once you have completed the assessment you will be provided with a certificate which will indicate your status.
You can access the tool on the following platforms:
Thank you again for continuing to partner with us as we try to keep everyone safe. Your health and well-being is our priority, and together we will see this through as we prevent the spread of the virus.
Please visit the UP COVID-19 website and follow us on our social media platforms for any updates.
