The first of its kind in the communication sciences

Posted on October 18, 2013

The paper, entitled “The role of Neuro-Linguistic Programming(NLP) in improving organisational leadership through intrapersonal communication development towards organisational success”, was delivered by Dr Lizelle van der Walt and Mr Charl Oberholzer, who represented the Communication Management Division at the Southern Africa Institute for Management Scientists 2013 conference held at the North-West University. The theme of the conference was “Celebrating 25 years of management resilience”.

The paper discussed the role of NLP in intrapersonal leadership communication as strategic antecedent of organisational success. The study, which was conducted by Mr Oberholzer, examined a case study analysis of the Solidarity Movement. It measured the movement’s success against the NLP communication and leadership elements used by five of the movement’s top level leaders. With the focus in communication management moving strongly towards ‘soft issues’ as strategic elements in the corporate environment these days, the paper was received with great interest.
