TuksChess: The Beauty and the Brains

Posted on September 05, 2013

The number of ladies who participated in the chess tournament were 18 including two ladies from TUT. At the end of the tournament, prizes were only available to top three finishers. The competition was so tense they was a tie for the top spot which was clinched by Chenai Ngorima(Tuks) and Netty(TUT), the runner-up was Charmaine(Tuks). All three winners received new chess sets so that they can practice chess with friends and increase their strategy skills.

Whilst the ladies were locking horns with each other, the Tuks Chess Team (Guys) was battling TUT, their fierce rivals on a friendly chess game. At the end of it all, Tuks Chess Team proved that practice makes perfect even though the score was not perfect but Tuks prevailed! Craig Borheim was man of the match after having won all of his matches. Craig is the highest ranked player in the team so far.

Tuks Chess would like to thank Sci-Enza and its staff members Rudi Horak, Irene, Phoebe, Colette, Thami and Kagiso for allowing us to host the wonderful tournament to take place at the Sci-Enza.
