The exhibition day got more support than most sceptics expected. Most people were really keen to be members of the chess club. They showed the love for it, not just because it’s a month of love but for the real love of it.

The exhibition met the high expectations of the Student Sports Committee chairperson, Junior Tafa (who emphasized to the student the importance of supporting sports at the University and the committee they are here for their needs), the manager, and the chairperson.

It is highly unlikely for the club to be a one hit wonder when it comes to hosting events, due to the positive start it got. It was as if it got a little dose of the Madiba magic!

The support came from the following residences:

• Taaibos

• Kollege

• Klaradyn

• TuksVillage

• Olienhout

• Boekenhout

• Vividus Ladies

• Madelief

• Nerina

Much credit needs has to be given to the Vividus ladies. They were the only one’s to win each and every single game they played.

Now there’s only one way, which is forward.

The event which follows is the intervarsity challenge against UJ on the 6th March 2010.

Tukkies should and will be well prepared for that, based on the level or rather standard of play which was displayed at the exhibition day.

Shortly after the Intervarsity follows the house league on the 13th to the 16th of April 2010. A minimum of twenty residences are expected to participate in the house league.
