Panelist Prof Silvance Onyango Abeka

Prof. Silvance Onyango Abeka is a Director of the Centre for E Learning, and former Dean, School of Informatics and Innovative Systems at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology, Kenya. He worked previously as the Director, Institute of Open and Distance Learning at Africa Nazarene University. He holds a Doctorate Degree in Management Information Systems, a Master of Science in Computer Science, a Master of Business Administration (Information Technology) and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering.

Prof. Silvance has made several contributions in teacher education and E Learning through several publications in refereed journals in areas of Technology Adoption, Technology Enabled Learning, Blockchain in Education, E Learning and Mobile Computing. He is currently implementing Technology Enabled Learning project and Commonwealth Digital Education Leadership in Action project in Kenya, both sponsored/ supported by Commonwealth of Learning.

Prof. Silvance has broad corporate experience and is a professional member of the IEEE Computer Society, the Computer Society of Kenya, the Internet Society, and the Association for Computing Machinery, the largest association of computing professionals globally. He also sits on boards of several public and private sector organisations.
