Panelist Dr Kris Stutchbury

Dr Kris Stutchbury is a Senior lecturer in Teacher Education at the Open University (OU) in the UK. The Open University is one of the world’s oldest distance learning institutions, open to people, places, methods and ideas.

Before joining the OU, Kris worked as a Secondary Science teacher and Head of Science for 20 years. She has worked as Director of Initial Teacher Education, Module Team Chair on the Masters in Learning and Teaching and has extensive experience in international teacher education and development. She was the science and leadership lead on the OU’s TESS-India project; is the academic director of Teacher Education in Sub Saharan Africa (TESSA) and co-director of Zambian Education and school-based training (ZEST). She has been lead author on a number of successful, free, online courses and won the PIEoneer Digital Innovation of the Year award in 2018 for the successful TESSA MOOC, ‘Making Teacher Education relevant for 21st Century Africa’. In partnership with the Commonwealth of Learning (CoL), she led the production and presentation of two MOOCs to support Inclusive Education.

Kris maintains her interest in schools by serving as Chair of Governors at a large UK Secondary School and a Trustee of the Cambridgeshire Area Academy Trust.
