Sheila Drew: Programme Specialist (Early Childhood Development) with Saide
Sheila Drew is a Programme Specialist – Early Childhood Development with the South African Institute for Distance Education (see www.saide.org.za ). She has worked with a number of education organisations and institutions in the areas of evaluation, programme and curriculum design, materials design and development, open education resources within South Africa (e.g. SABC, Department of Education, University of Pretoria, University of KwaZulu-Natal , University of the Witwatersrand, and Rhodes University as lead institution in the national EU Strengthening Foundation Phase Teacher Education project) as well as some work in Mozambique and Ghana. Sheila has been one of the South African in-country co-ordinators for the African Storybook Project. The project aims to increase access to and use of children’s stories in local languages in South Africa, Kenya and Uganda. Sheila also has experience in design for open and online learning, and has managed a number of large collaborative ECD programme and materials development projects. Sheila holds a BA (Wits), a BEdHons in adult education (Wits), and a Montessori Diploma (St. Nicholas, London).
