Dr David Zounmenou is a senior researcher in the Conflict Prevention and Risk Analysis Programme at the ISS Tshwane (Pretoria) office. Dr Zounmenou is a graduate from the Ecole Nationale d’Administration (ENABENIN), option Diplomacy and International Relations. He joined Wits University where he completed his postgraduate studies (BA Hons, MA Cum Laude and PhD) in International Relations. His areas of interest include foreign policy analysis, contemporary development issues, democracy and good governance, armed conflicts and human security. Dr Zounmenou tutored at Wits University and lectured at Walter Sisulu University before joining the ISS.

Laurie Nathan is Extraordinary Professor and Director of the Centre for Mediation in Africa at the University of Pretoria. He is a practitioner as well as an academic and has just returned from Mali where he assisted the United Nations with strategic planning. He has worked with SADC on the Madagascar mediation and with the UN and African Union on the Darfur mediation. He was recently appointed to serve on the UN Academic Advisory Council on Mediation.
