Purpose of the course:

Pastors and lay counselors are challenged by the need for emotional, relational and spiritual healing in the South African context. In this course the theory and practice of narrative pastoral care and counselling will be integrated and students equipped to offer hope in a wide variety of situations.

Who may attend:

Pastors and other leaders who have matriculated and have a two or three year diploma or degree in theology

Note:

Students who qualify to register for a Master’s degree at the Faculty of Theology, University of Pretoria, can offer this course as part of a structured course work Master’s degree in Practical Theology.

Structure and duration of course:

This is a one-year course with five weeks of contact tuition. Written assignments are done after every week of contact sessions. Each module will consist of theory, practical work in a specific context and in-depth reflection and integration of information.

  • Week 1: 11-14 February 2019
  • Week 2: 6-9 May 2019
  • Week 3: 8-11 July 2019
  • Week 4: 9-12 September 2019
  • Week 5: 4-7 November 2019
