About us

Our core mission

The Centre for Contextual Ministry at the University of Pretoria is a training centre that was established by the University to focus on the training of community leaders in South Africa, Africa and beyond, for contextual engagement in their communities.

In addition, the Centre does research, provides consulting services, and is the Faculty of Theology’s preferred vehicle for community engagement.

Our target group

CCMs target group is community and church leaders – including non-profit and civic leaders, public servants, business people and care-givers – who are committed to healthy communities and want to be equipped for more effective community practice.

We help participants in our programmes to relate their faith and spiritualities contextually, shaping their personal and professional practices in ways that will help facilitate multiple individual, congregational, organizational, neighbourhood and broader systemic transformations.

Our clusters of excellence

We offer training in four clusters focusing on leadership development, organizational and congregational development, the pastoral work of healing and counselling, and urban and community transformation.

At the roots of all the training offered by CCM is the fostering of faith and vision, values and meaning, critical consciousness and collective discernment, life and practical skills.

Our invitation

We hope that you may find the relevant course that might help you grow in love, understanding and competency, to make a difference where you are: being and doing good news in context.

Discipleship is about following and learning from Christ. We are committed to life-long learning and our programmes are designed to combine faith, action, spirituality and community, learning from the contexts and the people we are seeking to serve.

We invite you to become part of this exciting community!
