Doctor Funke Omidire’s experience in education spans around 20 years, working with learners in the capacities of teacher, researcher, learning supporter, education manager as well as counsellor. Besides the PhD she obtained from the University of Pretoria in September 2009, she has studied at the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), the University of Lagos, and the London Metropolitan University, UK. She is a member of the Counselling Association of Nigeria (CASSON), American Education Research Association (AERA), Psychological Society of South Africa (PsySSA) and South African Council for Educators (SACE). Following her doctoral studies, Doctor Omidire completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the ERA Unit, Department of Educational Psychology in 2012. She has been collaborating on several funded research projects, most with international affiliations. Her current research focuses on complexities surrounding the multiplicity of languages in education and issues of psychological well-being of the learners, teachers and parents who are affected. She publishes in national and international journals and has disseminated her research findings at national and international conferences. She also supervises the research of Masters and doctoral students.
