My name is Daniel Gibson. I was born in 2004 in Johannesburg, South Africa. My interest in the USA formed primarily after 2016 and the infamous election season of that year. My interest started with (and remains) primarily foreign policy and international relations. The first major book I read in this area was ‘World Order’ by Henry Kissinger in 2020. I remain a frequent reader. I graduated from high school in 2022 after the COVID-19 pandemic and began studying for a degree in Public Administration and International Relations (Badmin) the next year. Currently, I am in my second year. Since taking on this degree, I have also had the privilege of working as a proofreader for Arena Holdings (publisher of Business Day and other newspapers). I am interested in continuing to study foreign policy, but my interests have also branched out to domestic policy, American Constitutional history, the function of government and bureaucracy and the rise of interest/influence groups and think tanks in Washington, DC.
My strengths as a research assistant lie in my passion for research and willingness to read sources of all types. I have strong attention to detail and enthusiasm for this field of study. I also enjoy collaboration and working constructively with others.
