#TuksFootball: Amatuks Back-To-Back Fixtures To End October

Posted on October 18, 2016

AmaTuks are currently sitting in 4th position behind Thanda Royal Zulu, Jomo Cosmos and AmaZulu on 10 points from six matches. On the road AmTuks have won two matches and lost one while at home the won one match, drew one and lost one.

Chemon Petersen is slowly proving himself to be the quintessential "supersub", after coming off the bench three times to score crucial winning goals for AmaTuks. "He is proving to be quite the supersub. The players understand that we are not just a team we are a squad; and every time we have called on any of them they have delivered and I am happy with their attitude and with their contribution." Added Coach Bartlett

AmaTuks have scored two goals in each of their three wins, but have also conceded six goal in their six matches; a problem to which the very experienced Shane Poggenpoel might be the solution. "Shane hasn't played in two years so he is lacking some match fitness which is understandable. What was of greater importance for me in the game against Black Leopards was his experience; we wanted to get at least sixty minutes out of him and he gave us eighty which was great" said Coach Bartlett.

AmaTuks vs Witbank Spurs: Sunday 23 October 2016, 15h30

Spurs are sitting in 11th position on the log on seven points. In their six matches thus far they have two wins, one draw and three losses. They have scored six goals but conceded ten, leaving them on a negative four goal difference. On the road Spurs have won one match and lost two, with their heaviest loss being a 5-1 drubbing at the hands of log leaders Thanda Royal Zulu at the Umhlathuze Sports Complex. Spurs drew their previous match when they hosted Santos and will be looking to turn their fortunes when they visit the Tuks Stadium.

AmaTuks will be bolstered by by the availability of Anthony Gordinho who returns from suspension. Tshepo Moloi also returned from injury and was on the bench in the 2-0 win over Black Leopards, he will be rearing to get his first taste of action in Tuks colours. However, Innocent Nemukondeni, Mason October and Claudio De Almeida are all nursing niggling injuries and will be racing against the clock to be fit for the encounter against Spurs.

Mbombela United vs AmaTuks: Wednesday 26 October 2016, 15h30

With six matches played thus far, Mbombela find themselves stuck in 13th position on the log on six points. Mbombela have only managed the solitary win which was against Milano United AFC in the second match of the season. They have lose two matches and drew their last three matches.

It will be for the second time that AmaTuks visit the KaNyamazane Stadium; the two outfits met in the 2016/2017 Premier Soccer League Promotional Playoffs and Mbombela beat AmaTuks both home and away. The brief history will count for naught when the two meet in a league match up.

AmaTuks vs Real Kings FC: Sunday 30 October 2016, 13h00

In the final match of the month AmaTuks will face first division rookies Real Kings RC, who come into the match with a spring in their step following a 3-0 drubbing for fellow new comers Magesi FC; a result that saw them move to 9th position on the log on eight points. Thus far they have managed two wins, two draws and two losses, scoring nine goals and conceding ten, five of which came in a 5-1 drubbing at the hands of Thanda Royal Zulu.  That is the sort of embarrassment that they will be looking to avoid when they visit the Tuks Stadium in their televised match against AmaTuks.

"Going away from home and getting points is difficult, especially against the likes of Black Leopards. What I was more happy about in that game was that the boys listened to instruction and they stuck to the game plan. We had a few scary moments that we had to deal with in defence but defensively we showed aggression; we showed determination to clear the ball, even the goalkeeper and I was very pleased with that. Confidence grows with positive results and for me it's about building momentum; we need to get a winning streak going to make sure that we stay in touch with the top three teams. We need to control what is in our hands and that is the games that we have to play. Home games are crucial in terms of promotion and we need to convert those games into points, I always say to the players that if we play the way we train and execute the game plan then there is no reason why we can't get the points." Said Coach Bartlett

Let's all meet at the Tuks Stadium for some live action football. For those who cannot be with us at the stadium please follow @amatuks on Twitter for live match updates.
