Given the grim statistics on research expenditure, the seminar is thus premised on the need to enhance research capacity in the African continent. Research is generally done to inform decision making and policy making, to prove a theory, and contribute to developing knowledge in a field or study. Africa needs to do more in the research world by investing in right areas and tools to identify research gaps. It is important for the continent to support the development of strategies to enhance research and improve societies across Africa.
