Welcome to Biomath 2021 (previously Biomath 2020)

New: Biomath Biocommunications Report

New: Booklet of abstracts.

New: Registration and abstract submission deadline extended to June 4, 2021.

The annual international conference on Mathematical Methods and Models in Biosciences (Biomath 2021) will take place in hybrid mode (with both face-to-face and online participation) from 20th to 25th June 2021 at Protea Hotel by Marriott Pretoria Loftus Park, South Africa, and will be hosted by the Department of Mathematics and Applied Mathematics and the SARChI Chair on Mathematical Models and Methods in Bioengineering and Biosciences at University of Pretoria. The conference is devoted to recent research in life sciences based on applications of mathematics as well as mathematics applied to or motivated by biological studies. It is a multidisciplinary meeting forum for researchers who develop and apply mathematical and computational tools to the study of phenomena in the broad fields of biology, ecology, medicine, biotechnology, bioengineering, environmental science, etc.

Contributed talks in any of these fields are invited for presentation at the conference. Participants need to submit a one-page abstract indicating clearly the significance of the reported results for the advancement of knowledge in bioscience and/or biotechnology. Abstracts submission deadline: May 25, 2021.

Proceeding of the conference will be published in volume 10 of the journal "BIOMATH" .  The authors need to comply with the scope and the requirements of the journal if they would like to submit. Papers submission deadline: September 30.

History

The conference continues a tradition of Biomath conferences:

Biomath 2020: Salt Rock Hotel & Resort in Ballito, South Africa (now Biomath 2021)
Biomath 2019: Bedlewo Conference Centre, Polish Academy of Sciences, Poland
Biomath 2018: Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Sofia Bulgaria
Biomath 2017: Skukuza, Kruger Park, hosted by University of Pretoria, South Africa
Biomath 2016: South-West University, Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria
Biomath 2015: South-West University, Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria, and a satellite conference at University of Pretoria, South Africa
Biomath 2011-2014: Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Sofia, Bulgaria

Biomath School for Young Scientists

The school comprises plenary lectures, contributed presentations (talks and posters) and an instructional workshop. The lectures at the school are of more introductory nature giving foundations and insight into the respective topic rather than focusing on new results and are presented by some of the keynote speakers of the conference. A central event for the school is the Hot Topics Workshop. Several scholars act as moderators, presenting "hot areas" and related open problems. All PhD students and young scientists participating in the conference are considered members of the School for Young Scientists. Their presentations (oral or posters) will be assessed by a jury.
