Welcome to Biomath2021 (previously Biomath2020)

New: Dear Colleagues; Due to the uncertainty caused by the outbreak of COVID-19 we have decided to postpone the BIOMATH2020 conference by one year. The new dates are June 20 - 25, 2021. Your registration and any payments towards the conference you have made will be carried over for the 2021 event unless you instruct us otherwise. Hope to see you in Salt Rock in June 2021.

Journal Biomath welcomes submissions of manuscripts that you are busy preparing or have already prepared for the conference.

NEW: Deadline for abstract submission is now extended to 15 May 2020.

NEW: We are aware of the current situation regarding COVID-19 and the ongoing travel restrictions throughout the world. These are beyond our control, but there are no current restrictions in South Africa regarding conferences such as Biomath2020. We will keep you updated should the situation change. In order to provide additional support, we shall treat all participants who registered by the 15th of March 2020 as Early Birds as far as the reduced registration fee is concerned.

The annual international conference on Mathematical Methods and Models in Biosciences (Biomath 2020) will take place from 21st to 26th June 2020 at Salt Rock Hotel & Resort in Ballito, South Africa, and will be hosted by the Department of Mathematics and Applied Mathematics and the SARChI Chair on Mathematical Models and Methods in Bioengineering and Biosciences at University of Pretoria. The conference is devoted to recent research in life sciences based on applications of mathematics as well as mathematics applied to or motivated by biological studies. It is a multidisciplinary meeting forum for researchers who develop and apply mathematical and computational tools to the study of phenomena in the broad fields of biology, ecology, medicine, biotechnology, bioengineering, environmental science, etc.

Contributed talks in any of these fields are invited for presentation at the conference. Participants need to submit a one-page abstract indicating clearly the significance of the reported results for the advancement of knowledge in bioscience and/or biotechnology. Abstracts submission deadline: 15 March 2020.

Proceeding of the conference will be published in volume 9 (2020) of the journal "BIOMATH" and a Special Issue is envisaged. Additional information will be provided later. The authors need to comply with the scope and the requirements of the journal if they would like to submit. Papers submission deadline: 30 July 2020.

The conference continues a tradition of Biomath conferences:

Biomath 2018: Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Sofia Bulgaria
Biomath 2017: Skukuza, Kruger Park, hosted by University of Pretoria, South Africa
Biomath 2016: South-West University, Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria
Biomath 2015: South-West University, Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria, and a satellite conference at University of Pretoria, South Africa
Biomath 2011-2014: Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Sofia, Bulgaria

Biomath School for Young Scientists

The school comprises plenary lectures, contributed presentations (talks and posters) and an instructional workshop. The lectures at the school are of more introductory nature giving foundations and insight into the respective topic rather then focusing on new results and are presented by some of the keynote speakers of the conference. A central event for the school is the Hot Topics Workshop. Several scholars act as moderators, presenting "hot areas" and related open problems. All PhD students and young scientists participating in the conference are considered members of the School for Young Scientists. Their presentations (oral or posters) will be assessed by a jury.
