| Module content | Students apply their interpretive, critical skills to a selection of written and material remains from the Ancient Near East, Egypt, Greece and Rome, against their cultural and historical backgrounds, which are chosen around a theme or topic for that year. Approaches include ancient and modern methods, with the goal of showing the impact and relevance of ancient sources, and the cultural and social practices they present, on 21st century South African society. Critical reading, writing, argumentation and interpretation skills continue to be reinforced. |
