Light Microscopy as a Tool to Anthrax SurveillanceHost institution: | 1 November 2022 09h30 - 12h00 | Light microscopy is an affordable and accessible technique which only requires glass slides, stains and a microscope. It can be performed in isolated rural areas. Microscopy can produce robust disease surveillance datasets which can be used in disease and risk modelling. In this webinar anthrax was used as a model to demonstrate the benefits of light microscopy as a tool to disease surveillance. Staining methodologies and specific hints guided the laboratory personnel in the do’s and don’ts of anthrax diagnosis by smear microscopy. |
