Deneesher Pather to participate in discussion forum with the University of Gothenburg

Deneesher Pather, Assistant Lecturer in Visual Studies at the School of the Arts will participate in a discussion forum with students from the University of Gothenburg, Sweden on 19 March 2021. She will be presenting on her most recent article entitled Authenticating the everyday: the echo of anti-apartheid documentary photography in Noncedo Charmaine’s explorations into Black beauty and homelessness in Cape Town which analyses the works of Cape-Town based photographer Noncedo Charmaine. Charmaine’s photography captures ordinary situations, subtly speaking to both photographic legacies and normative ideas of beauty, identity, and class.
