Professional and academic experience
Frans Jongejan provides expert consultations on ticks and tick-borne diseases of veterinary and medical importance to government agencies, contract research organizations and the pharmaceutical industry.

Capita Selecta on ticks and tick-borne diseases of livestock and companion animals.
Research interests
He is developing innovative tick control methods for companion animals, livestock, and humans to contribute to improved animal and human health worldwide. This includes molecular diagnostics and vaccine development for ticks and tick-borne diseases and developing artificial feeding devices for feeding ticks in vitro to study tick-pathogen interactions. Finally, acaricide resistance management of livestock ticks and the development of novel bio-assays is a unique area of interest, particularly in South Africa.
