The University of Pretoria Aeronautical Society of South Africa has partnered with Students for the Exploration and Development of Space (SEDS) South Africa: As a result, we have taken this opportunity to update our name and will now be called the University of Pretoria Aerospace Society (UPAS). This decision was made to include all aspects of flight, fields of study and to remain adaptable in this rapidly changing industry. Our logo has also been redesigned appropriately by Iman Motani.

Merchandise: We are super excited to announce our partnership with Tuks Clothing to bring you your very own UPAS apparel. Hoodies, T-shirts and caps are currently available. Details have been emailed to our current members. We hope to see you looking snatched in our clothing soon !!

Marketing Day: We will be on Hatfiled Campus on the 15th or 16th March if you would like to sign up in person.

Webinars

Space Manufacturing Industry in South Africa. The talk will be on Microsoft Teams on Thursday 27th May 19h00 by the CEO of CubeSpace. Feel free to check out their website https://www.cubespace.co.za/ .

Telescope Introduction by Mr Bret Yotti from the UCT Astronomy Department. The talk will be on Microsoft Teams on Friday 21st at 19h00. The talk is usually 30 minutes followed by a time for questions. A link will be made available by request. Please email us if you are interested.

The Space of Tomorow - From Vostok to Artemis. This conference will be hosted by SEDS Cranfield on Friday 11 June 2021 from 9:00 -18:30 BST. Some amazing speakers from industry will be presenting on variouse space related topics and a virtual career fair will also be open to students. AMSAT SA Space Symposium. There wil be two international speakers and a presentation by the AfriCube Team. The webinar will be held on the 10 July from 10:00-15:00 CAT..

Data-intensive research cloud for processing MeerKat and other SKA pathfinder telescope data. Dr Marcin Glowacki from the IDIA will present this talk which is hosted by the UCT Space Society. This will take place on 12 August 2021 at 19:00 CAT.

Amateur Radio in Space. A very exciting talk has been organised by UPAS thanx to Mr Koos Fick from SARL and AMSAT SA. There will also be some speakers from the USA who will share their experiences in the space industry with us. This will take place on the 21 August at 18:45 CAT. Anyone is welcome.
