Rooted in our history, the UP logo reflects who we are and what we stand for. The shield symbolises industriousness, heritage and unity – values that continue to guide us.
Brand Hub
The Brand Hub is where you can easily find all the official materials you may need when creating documents, presentations, or communication for the University
- Our motto, the Latin phrase Ad Destinatum Persequor, translates to “With zeal and perseverance, strive towards the goal”.
- The name Tuks, for the University of Pretoria, derives from the acronym for the College, namely TUC.
- 4 March 1908: The Transvaal University College (TUC) became known officially as the Pretoria Centre of the Transvaal University College.
- The shield on our logo is a symbolic representation of industriousness, heritage and unity.
- The bees that appear on the UP coat of arms resemble those on the Pretoria coat of arms.
