Clarence Munyai withdrew from South Africa’s 4x100m-relay team after aggravating a hamstring injury in the 200m final at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. The Tuks-sprinter, Emile Erasmus, will replace him for tomorrow’s heat.

The 4x100m-relay gold medal is one that South Africa is judging by the last two years sprint results should have a realistic chance to contest for, but somehow they never really got to give it a full go at a major competition.

The South African 400m-hurdles champion, Wenda Nel, had no problem in qualifying this morning for the final at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.

Sokwakhana Zazini (TuksSport High School) won the 400m at the South African Junior Championships in the Paarl in a time of 45.86s.

Tatjana Schoenmaker came oh so close to setting a third African record at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games when she won her semi-final heat in the 100m-breaststroke in a time of 1:06.65.
