Skills

Our 2016 topics include: creative innovation and solution based thinking, role models, networking, branding and public speaking, developing your personal leadership style, understanding our South African context as well as time and stress management.

Throughout the year we have workshops focusing on gender violence awareness, South African problems and solutions, and public speaking practical coaching.

Guest speakers are also invited to share with the students and create dialogue regarding issues facing women in our society.

2017 Content

Who am I?

This two-part theme leads students to explore who they are, how they fit into the larger context of the university, and where they are going. With a greater understanding of their personality, they are empowered to build on their strengths and overcome their weaknesses. Students learn valuable time-management skills, and an approach to goal setting.

Women in Society

The second two-part theme introduces students to important concepts such as feminism, intersectionality, and diversity. We look at gender-based challenges in the world around us, and how to engage as a woman in our personal contexts. Students are taught how to build a support structure and the importance of supporting other young women.

Leadership Identity

This key theme engages students by exposing them to different leadership styles, and to identify their own leadership strengths.  We encourage students to actively prepare so that they can be ready to seize leadership roles in their everyday lives.

Women in the Workplace

In this theme we look at how women function in the economy. We prepare the students for success in the work place by equipping them with key skills such as CV-writing, personal branding, interview tips and work skills.
