Public Talks and Science Cafe

Sci-Enza often hosts free public talks or seminars for the general public and students on various scientific topics and trends. These talks aim to share knowledge on sciences, engineering and technology related topics presented by guest speakers who are pioneers in their respected fields from around the world

All talks are FREE.



In collaboration with the US Embassy, Sci-Enza hosted former Nasa Executive Jim Adams, where he discussed virtual reality innovations and gave students an opportunity to experience the International Space Station via virtual reality.


Mathematics and 3D Printing guru, Dr Laura Taalman of the James Madison University in the US discussed the applications of 3D printing for entrepreneurship. As well as delving in the mathematics behind the software used in these printers. Also hosted by US Embassy South Africa & Sci-Enza.


SAP Next-Gen and UN Women in Innovation and Tech forum, hosted data scientist Merill Van der Walt and Next-Gen director Kwena Mabotja to bring together women to network and spark dialogue. Among the discussions was managing big data in the fourth industrial revolution.


Chris Jacobs, Senior Deep Space Engineer at NASA, gave an insightful talk on navigation in our solar system, How would we make our way on Mars? Hosted by the United States Embassy South Africa & Sci-Enza.
