Position, academic and professional qualifications

Ms Sophy Baird is a lecturer in the Department of Private Law at the University of Pretoria. She obtained the degree LLB in 2013 from the University of Pretoria followed by an LLM degree in 2018, also at the University of Pretoria.

Academic & professional experience

Ms Baird was admitted as an attorney of the High Court in 2017 after completing her articles at ENS Africa. In January 2019, she was appointed as a full-time lecturer in the Department of Private Law.

Teaching activities

Ms Baird is currently lecturing Law of Persons to undergraduate law students. She has also lectured on Personality Rights.

Areas of specialisation

Ms Baird’s areas of interest lie within the fields of the Law of Persons and Child Law.
