Position, academic and professional qualifications
Annelize Nagtegaal is a lecturer in the Department of Private Law at the University of Pretoria. She obtained the degree LLB (cum laude) in 2007 from the University of Pretoria followed by an LLM degree (cum laude) in 2011, also at the University of Pretoria. She is currently busy with her LLD in sports law and the topic of her thesis is “Testing school athletes for the use of prohibited substances: Problems and solutions”
Academic & professional experience
Adv Nagtegaal was admitted as an advocate of the High Court in 2008, and whilst practicing as such, she also presented lectures at the University of Pretoria on a part-time basis from February 2009. In July 2012, she was appointed as a full-time lecturer in the Department of Private Law.
Teaching activities
Adv Nagtegaal is currently lecturing Family Law and Law of Damages to undergraduate law students. She has also lectured on the Law of Contract, and Law of Succession and Social Welfare Law.
Adv Nagtegaal is also involved in teaching the module Divorce Law to postgraduate students.
Research activities
Adv Nagtegaal presented a paper entitled “Strict Liability in the World Anti-Doping Code: A Contractual Perspective” at the Sports Law Colloquium in Bloemfontein on 10 May 2012. She also attended a Sports Law Conference organized by the South African Institute for Drug-Free Sport in November 2014.
