- The old committee will be available for consultation by the new members, and the old president will attend meetings and act as a ‘guide’ to the new committee.

- A new, non-voting member of the committee will be selected in September, to act as a Nathouse representative.

- The aims of PSANA at current are to get the postgraduate students of the university involved and active in PSANA again, to show them that PSANA is back, functional and growing, and to ‘recruit’ new postgraduates via the final year symposiums.

- The new committee members are cautioned that they are to act in accordance with University Law, they are recognized not as members of a committee or group but as a representative of the whole postgraduate body, they are therefore to be cautioned as to their decisions and behavior, as the risk of expulsion, and damage to the view of the committee is real and great.

- Members are to act in the best interests of the students, and if impartiality is not possible on the part of the committee member, then is best if they withdraw from the discussion making in the matter.

- As members of a small committee the new members are encouraged to remain aware of the work and decisions of the other members, so that they will be able to help a student, even if approached with a matter not within their portfolio.

- Helping administrative staff, and other departments with student related matters is encouraged, as this builds bridges with new departments and people, they in turn will begin to recognize PSANA and trust the committee and its decisions, and will be available to help us at a later date.

- Confidentiality of all privileged information is paramount! PSANA cannot afford to be associated with the leaking of information, this could lead to very bad repercussions against individuals, or the committee as a whole, and will be very damaging to the view of PSANA.

- Committee members can use their involvement with PSANA in their CV’s, it is our goal to make PSANA and the postgraduate community of UP world recognized and respected.

Discussion Issue
- Combining the final year symposium with the postgraduate expo to be held at the Pretoria show grounds, this will save us time and money, and will provide good exposure.
- Transport issues for university students exist, discuss with faculty or department to organize transport to and from show grounds, or get an outside transport solution i.e. talk with a bus company and get a donation for the day.
- PSANA can put up posters with the aims of the committee, and motivation for postgrad. studies
- 8 tables, all departments are supposed to attend, space is a problem, suggestion of displaying the 4 schools, discuss with Marie.
- Keep it simple! Most students don’t have any idea what they are going to do.
