PSANA EXCO Meeting

1. Acceptance of previous minutes
The previous minutes was accepted by all the committee members
2. Crime prevention donation
PSANA have donated R500 for crime week.
3. Portfolio for NAT House
PSANA created another portfolio for information about the NAT house. James Roxburgh will fill this portfolio.
4. Collaboration between career week and final year symposium
Melissa met with Prof. Cloete and received a contact number for SAB. Melissa phoned them several times but they were busy. She will try again.
5. Welcoming honours students
James Mehl will obtain the dates surrounding the research methodology course. PSANA wants to collaborate with PPS for pizza.
6. Constitution
Two changes was made to the constitution:
a) The membership fee of R20 was removed
b) The next election for the committee will take place in April. An email will be send out for nominees for committee members. The cut off date for nominees will be 15 March 2005. The appointments will be announced in April. The “old” committee members will help the “new” committee members until September 2005.
Marelize will verify if the constitution is in the right format
7. Faculty Bosberaad
The Faculty bosberaad will be in March. Issue raise by PSANA will include:
a) Payment of bursaries earlier in the year;
b) The number of post-graduate students will become less because there is more money if you work in South Africa or overseas;
c) A student can only ask for R1000 a month advance on his/her bursary money. PSANA feel that the amount should be increased.
8. Campus security
PSANA are going to write a letter for roof covering over the boom gates at the University entrances so that the security personnel don’t have to stand in rain and sun. It will further help you when you swipe your card not to get soak if you want to enter the campus.
9. PSANA bosberaad
The PSANA bosberaad will be the 8 April 2005. The new committee members should attend the bosberaad.
10. Meeting with the Dean
The Dean asks PSANA to arrange a meeting with him and discuss the plans for the new year. However, PSANA will only meet with the dean after the PSANA bosberaad.
11. PSANA Web page
James Mehl will add links between the admin page of the committee members and their personal web page. James Mehl further suggested that all post-graduate students should get a personal web page. Craig will get more information from the Webmaster in his department.
12. Social
Everyone should please help with the float building at the Proefplaas. All the assistance will be appreciated. There is further a touch rugby game on Tuesday if anyone wants to give support.
13. Resignation from Paula
Paula resigned with immediate affect. Craig will be in charge to write a letter while James Mehl will send the letter out to find out who are the departments representatives.
14. Next meeting
The next meeting will be on 14 March at 16:00 at Gunters.
