The Department of Political Sciences invites you to a public seminar on the topic "Recovering Democracy in South Africa," to be presented by Raymond Suttner on 7 May.

This seminar is based on and also serves to launch Prof Suttner’s book, Recovering Democracy in South Africa, on the UP campus. The author will introduce the book and focus on a number of themes and issues raised in it and Dr Mzukisi Qobo and Ms Sithembile Mbete will respond to his presentation, chaired by Prof Sandy Africa.

Raymond Suttner is a part-time professor at Rhodes University and emeritus professor at the University of South Africa. Trained as a legal scholar, he subsequently completed an interdisciplinary PhD in History, Political Studies and Sociology. He is also the author of Inside Apartheid’s Prison (2001) and The ANC Underground (2009).

Copies of Prof Suttner’s book, Recovering Democracy in South Africa will be on sale at this event.
