Course description:
Participants will acquire the knowledge and skills to use Functional and Therapeutic Electrical Stimulation (FES and TES) to facilitate and improve functional outcomes in Rehabilitation. It is used successfully for patients who have suffered from Strokes, SCI, TBI, CP and Parkinson’s.
Practical sessions include application of FES / TES on patients.
Course objectives
To give an overview of the basic neurophysiology and anatomy relevant to FES
To equip course participants with the relevant knowledge to apply FES on patients
To give Physiotherapists practical hands-on experience in the use of FES and TES with patients
To enable therapists to get hands-on experience to apply FES on patients with both upper limb and lower limb impairment
