Mignon Black, a third-year UP BSport Science student attended the International Scholar Laureate Program
(ISLP) forMedicine and Science in Australia. The Golden Key International Society selected Mignon, along with three other South African students, to join students from around the globe to examine the fields of health care, medicine and science through an Australian lens.
Students attended numerous talks and held interactive workshops. Mignon’s group discussed health care
systems in America, South Africa and Australia, with specific reference to rural areas. The students visited the University of Melbourne and the University of New South Wales.Through ISLP, Mignon had the opportunity to develop as a young researcher, to network with students from across the world and to explain the role that exercise and sport science play in the fields of health care, medicine and science.
