He is an Oral Pathologist at the Piricicaba Dental School, University of Campinas, Brazil where he currently holds the position of Educational Dean. He is also extensively involved in the training of both undergraduate and postgraduate students and at any given time is supervising many Master’s and PhD degrees. He has published extensively and currently has more than 150 published articles to his name. Fine needle aspiration cytology and its application in the diagnosis of head and neck lesions is a subject Professor Vargas is particularly passionate about. It was truly an enriching experience for us to learn from him in this regard as well as to learn more about the undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programmes in Dentistry in Brazil. We thank Professor Vargas for a wonderful, fun-filled visit and look forward to much scientific collaboration in future.
