How to get a UP student card

Posted on March 19, 2021

2023 UPDATE: Please note that now that contact classes have resumed, students should apply for student cards at the Student Service Centre on the Hatfield Campus

All students need a student card to access UP campuses and to make use of various facilities on campus. Some local businesses even offer discounts on presentation of a valid student card.

It is important for all registered first-year students to make an online booking to have their student card issued from the Hillcrest Campus. This is very important and in the interests of social distancing and keeping students and staff safe.

Students will not be allowed on the Hillcrest Campus without a booking.

To make a booking for your student card, please follow these instructions:

  1. Log in to the UP Student Portal.
  2. Go to Student Centre and click on it.
  3. Then go to the Academic Information tab and click on it.
  4. On the left you will see Student Card Bookings, click on it to make a booking to collect your student card.
  5. Download your booking confirmation and bring it, along with your positive identification, to the Hillcrest Campus using the South Street entrance.

When you come to collect your card, remember to do your health check, put on a mask, wash and sanitise your hands and keep a safe distance from others at all times.
