The Special Collections Book of the Week this week is:

African History from earliest times to independence by Philip Curtin et al.

This famous work explores the history of Africa from earliest times to the end of the colonial period. It is exceptional in its breadth as it provides systematic coverage of the entire continent including the North; in its range, as it establishes a clear political framework but is still more concerned with social, economic, cultural and intellectual developments and; and in its quality, as the four authors are amongst the most distinguished and experienced Africanists writing today.
