Welcome to the 2022 University of Pretoria Music Festival.

The University of Pretoria Music Festival (UPMF) serves a dual purpose. The festival not only provides exciting performances by renowned musicians for Gauteng and national audiences, but also offers a training platform for many of South Africa’s most talented young

musicians. During the festival, students and audience members are immersed in a week of inspiring music, while interacting in world-class workshops and masterclasses with visiting guest artists and the UP School of Arts faculty members.

Now, in its fourth year, the festival is thrilled to welcome seven of South Africa’s most respected and renowned musicians to present masterclasses and workshops, namely Daniel Boico, François du Toit, Debbie Mari, Suzanne Martens, Mario Nell, Liesl Stoltz and Albie van Schalkwyk.

Audience members can look forward to a wide variety of concerts, masterclasses, workshops and presentations during the festival. In order for you to make the most out of this exciting week, this programme contains all of the information about the various events. Entrance to all events is free of charge and everyone is welcome! The 2022 UP Music Festival will also kick off the return of the weekly Lunch Hour Concerts. Visit the School of the Arts website for the concert schedule.

On behalf of the School of the Arts, I would like to thank all of the faculty members and students that worked tirelessly to put this festival together. We look forward to welcoming you to this thrilling week of music!
