Lecturing Molecular Ecology and Bioremediation in Mozambique

Dr Jean-Baptiste Ramond, research fellow at the Centre for Microbial Ecology and Genomics, was invited to lecture a Microbial Ecology and Bioremediation module in the Masters in Biotechnology program at the University of Eduardo Mondlane in Maputo. Dr Ramond has lectured the module since 2012 in collaboration with the Institute for Microbial Biotechnology and Genomics at the University of the Western Cape. The one-week module includes practical work (PCR amplification and sequencing) as well as theory. According to Dr Ramond the module remains highly successful as the students are highly motivated and a pleasure to work with.

This years’ module included 12 students, Dr Ramond, Dr Bronwyn Kirby (IMBM) and Prof Alain Boulanger's (Acting Director of the Master degree in Biotechnology).
