About the Department of Immunology    

The Department of Immunology was established in 1990 and is situated in the Institute for Pathology, Faculty of Health Sciences, Prinshof Campus.

The Department conducts research and teaching/training at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Our diverse range of students includes medical technicians, technologists, scientists, undergraduate medical/dental and paramedical students, as well as postgraduate students at the MSc and PhD levels.

The Department of Immunology has a number of major services commitments, including provision of serodiagnostic (auto-immune, allergic, infectious diseases), complementology, flow cytometric (leukaemia immunophenotyping, detection and monitoring of primary and secondary immunodeficiency diseases), and tissue typing procedures (HLA typing and HLA antibody detection).
