Dr Lorette E Arendse

Academic profile

Dr Lorette Arendse obtained the degrees LLB LLM (cum laude) from the University of the Western Cape and an LLD from the University of Pretoria.

Arendse served as a law clerk under Justices Yvonne Mokgoro and Johan Froneman at the Constitutional Court during 2009. In 2010, she was appointed as a lecturer at the Law Faculty, North West University where she taught Constitutional Law.  She joined the Faculty of Law, University of Pretoria in 2011 and has taught Introduction to Law, African Human Rights and Law and Transformation. She currently teaches Jurisprudence 110 and Education Law 420.

Focus areas

Her main research focus is on the right to basic education in the context of racial and class inequality.
