Three colleagues from the Department of Information Science, Isak de Villiers Bosman (lecturer), Dave Ka (junior lecturer) and Annique Smith (lecturer and package coordinator of Multimedia) presented at the 7th Annual International GamiFIN Conference 2023 in Lapland, Finland from the 18th to the 21st of April. The conference was organised by the Gamification Group, a Tampere University research team that brings together a global community of scientists, industry members and officials.

Isak de Villiers Bosman, Annique Smith and Dave Ka presented a full research paper titled The experience of using virtual reality for interactive spatial visualisation of environmental data.

Annique Smith further presented a poster titled Ludus- and paidia-oriented gamification for metacognitive awareness in flipped classrooms.

Dave Ka and Isak de Villiers Bosman co-presented a poster titled Using proprioception to guide menu item selection in virtual reality.

The conference was hybrid and Isak de Villiers Bosman also served as the technical chair for the online component of the conference.
