1. Employment Relations

The primary objective of this section is to ensure peaceful and harmonious employer-employee relations. The Division ensures and oversees compliance with the applicable legal and statutory employment relations framework and provides specialised advice and support services on internal work performance, grievance and disciplinary procedures and processes. This requires formal co-operation with recognised registered trade unions and employee organisations. The working relationship between the University and unions is regulated by formal bilateral recognition agreements entered into between the University and the various unions.

2. Employment Equity
The EE function facilitates the development of strategic policies, programmes and procedures to ensure that the University fulfills its commitment to transformation in employment equity.

3. Wellness and Employee Assistance Programme
The Employee Assistance Programme at the University of Pretoria ([email protected]) is a voluntary, confidential service that provides professional counselling and referral services in order to reduce health risks, promote healthy behaviours and enhance employee and workplace effectiveness through prevention, identification and resolution of productivity issues and workplace dilemmas.

4. HIV/Aids
The University of Pretoria acknowledges the negative impact of HIV/Aids among the economically active population and to this end endeavours to create programmes to address HIV and Aids in the workplace. The goal of the UP HIV/Aids workplace policy and the UP HIV/Aids programme is to create a supportive and non-discriminatory working environment for all staff.
