On 15 August 2008, Shirley Zinn and Babalwa Ngonyama won awards at the 2008 BBQ (Black Business Quarterly) awards, which was held at Vodaworld in Midrand. Ministers and well-known personalities from the business world and public sector attended this prestigious annual gala event.
The awards ceremony is held to recognise unsung heroes, leaders and visionaries who have broken barriers, regained and established new ground by setting higher leadership goals within their personal capacity, the workplace and in corporate South Africa.
An independent judging panel selected the 2008 winners for each of the eleven categories. Congratulations to both Shirley and Babalwa who jointly won the 2008 BBQ usinesswomen Visionary Award. Shirley also walked away with the prestigious 2008 Platinum Visionary Award. This special award is awarded to the person that has proven strong leadership skills within their career and that has been an inspiration to their peers, colleagues and the wider South Africa.
